Job Title: Development Manager

Reports To: Executive DirectorPosition Overview:
Skagitonians to Preserve Farmland (SPF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation of the Skagit Valley’s agricultural land, its farming communities, and the future of local food production. We are seeking a passionate, skilled, and self-motivated Development Manager to join our team. This position will play a key role in the growth and sustainability of the organization by leading efforts to build relationships with donors, securing financial support, and implementing fundraising campaigns to support our mission.Key Responsibilities:
Fundraising Strategy: Develop and execute comprehensive data-driven fundraising strategies to meet the organization’s financial goals, including individual, corporate, and foundation support.
Fundraising Events: Design, plan and execute fundraising events, leveraging staff and volunteers. Conduct post-mortem analysis on events to measure success to goal.
Donor Engagement: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective donors, including individuals, foundations, and corporations.
Membership Development: Redefine and grow SPF’s membership program.
Major Donor Program: Develop SPF’s major donor program.
Grant Writing and Reporting: Research and identify grant opportunities, write compelling grant proposals, and manage the submission process.
Campaign Management: Plan and implement fundraising campaigns, events, and donor stewardship initiatives that align with SPF’s mission and goals.
Donor Communications: Oversee the creation of donor communications, including newsletters, donor appeals, social media outreach, and event materials.
Database Management: Maintain donor database, ensuring accurate records of donations, communications, and engagement activities.
Collaboration: Work closely with the Executive Director, staff, board committees, and volunteers to align fundraising efforts with the organization’s strategic priorities.
Budget and Reporting: Provide regular updates on fundraising progress and outcomes, and assist in budget preparation and financial forecasting related to fundraising activities.
Back-up Staff Members: Back-up other staff members during absence or peaks in workload. As a small non-profit, no staff member is above pitching in to get the job done.
Other Duties as Assigned
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
3+ years of experience in nonprofit fundraising or development, including experience with major gifts, individual giving, and grant writing.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages for different audiences.
Experienced in collecting and analyzing data to create a data-driven fundraising strategy
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with donors, volunteers, and key stakeholders.
Proficient in using donor management software, online fundraising platforms, social media and Microsoft Office Suite
Knowledge of Skagit Valley’s major donors and agricultural landscape and issues are a plus, but not required.
Additional Requirements:
The successful candidate shall provide references and participate in a background check.
Job Details:
· Job Type: Full-Time, Exempt (not eligible for overtime)
· Typical Work Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Board meetings occur from 5-7:30 pm once per month. Additional occasional evening or weekend hours required as necessitated by events.
